Our Mission & Vision
We’re connecting the dots between stories and strategies, audiences and actions, action and impact.
Films can move people. We’ve seen it before. Now, we want to do it again. Inspired by our past successes, and a vision for what is now possible through the creative, transparent and responsible use of technology, we want to take social cause campaigning to the next level. Collaboratively. If you have a desire to collaborate and an impact project in the works – at any stage – get in touch.
Our Mission is to harness the power of big data to do big good.
Organic reach is long dead. Social Media consolidation has cornered the market on independent interactive media and is constantly changing the rules. This landscape puts campaigners at the mercy of the markets; it punishes and hinders grassroots, niche and BIPOC creators’ progressive content and audiences, keeping them from reaching their own people and diminishing momentum for movements to effect change.
In this context the radical right and corporate interests have endless resources to use data to shape narrative change – in frightening ways. With Cool World’s collaborations we are going to harness the data-power of progressives – to literally change the data-world.
CASE STUDY: THE CORPORATION FILM
“September, 2003, the first Corporation film premiered. By October we had generated 60,000 contacts. By the time the film launched in San Francisco we were getting 10,000 visitors a day to our website and an unthinkable click through rate on every email we sent. This was followed by years of engagement, millions of audience views and sales of the film through theatrical, educational, consumer and free digital viewing, which is still happening. Most importantly, it united many progressive organizations and later was cited in being one of the influencers of the Occupy Movement. Now, with the new Cool World tools we are preparing for the sequel in September 2020.“

We are building a collective list, and we are not going to sell it. Not ever. We’re not going to give it away either. What we are going to do is through the Cool World app grant members access to relevant lists for their campaigns. When it comes to data gathering through social media we will not only uphold the strictest of international laws, we will fight for tougher, more democratic regulations which we will be the first to uphold.
Frequently Asked Questions
I have my own newsletter sign up on my website, why would I use the Cool World feature?
You can use your own mail list and still use other parts of the Cool World Platform. It’s not required. However, if you choose to use this feature, you will have the ability to send your emails and newsletters to all the relevant audiences from other projects in our network. And, you will be contributing to building engaged audiences around the topics and impact you care about.
I don’t have a lot of time or money to spend on outreach, how will the platform be of use to me?
The greatest part of what we are doing is harnessing the power of the collective. We already have members who want to hear about your impact project and through the platform you can reach them. Think of it as similar to starting a petition on one of the petition sites - except this is about broader engagement during the life of your project. If you have a little ad money to spend, we can help you get way more results for it.
I have a budget for some ad buys for my project. Can Cool World manage this?
Yes! We can handle all aspects of social media advertising for you, and what this means is that we will be able to tap into all our collective data that is a fit for your content, as well as build relevant lists for your next project or campaign. There is nothing to lose, and more to gain!
I am already working with a social media agency to place my ads and do my outreach. Can the platform help me?
Yes! We can give you our links to use for all your outreach Calls to Action (CTAs) whether organic, or paid. Then you can see every click on our live smart dashboard. It’s anonymous, you won’t know who is responding, but you will know exactly where they are, when they took action, and what link they clicked on and where that link was. The best part of this is that we can retarget these lists and refine them based on what content they have indicated they are interested in.
